Welcome 2020

Jan 6, 2020 | Uncategorized

Another year has past and I find myself sat at my desk ready for my first day back at work. Well I guess yesterday was my first day really as we attend a wedding fair and met lots of lovely couples. I enjoy those so much they don’t really feel like work.

2019 was a huge year for me I decided to really work hard at growing and improving all aspects of my photography. From the side you see at weddings and at shoots to the behind the scenes daily running and editing. When your self employed you really do have to do everything, creating and running your own website, marketing, networking, training, admin, it’s all on you and I have learnt so much over the last year. I found an amazing business mentor and now friend, meet fellow photographers in a support group we know as PSG and made some incredible friends there.

As usual, in 2019 I sought out photographers whose work I admire to train with. I truly believe there is always something new to learn if I see someone doing something I want to learn or improve I always try to train with them. This is something I will continue this year. No matter where you work or what you do there really is always something new to learn. I’m excited to learn new skills this year, especially with the lovely PSG group.

Whilst it is my name (Emma) on the business and I do much of the photography and day to day runnings many of you will have met my husband Grant. He’s been quietly supporting me for years whilst working full time in his work. Attending wedding fairs , weddings and shoots and is a talented photographer in his own right. Much of what I do would not be possible without his support and understanding when I’m away at weekends and sat up at all hours editing and working.

So onto 2020 and what we have planned. Obviously more meetups and training with my fellow PSG members. Other training, there are so many photographers I admire so I have some decisions to make there! We looking forward to 2020 being our busiest year yet with weddings and newborn bookings already looking to be keeping us very busy this year. I will continue to write my fortnightly blogs and aim to start a monthly newsletter email for those on our mailing list to keep you up to date with all things Purple Rose Photography.

For now, our prices and packages have remained the same, for all types of work. We will be re-assessing these later in the year but for now at least they will remain as they are. I want us to be competitive and offer value for money, but as this is my full-time work I still need to charge enough to bring in a sensible income so we can pay our mortgage, bills and maybe the odd meal out, nothing too extravagant here. I hope that those of you who have worked with us can see just how hard we work and how passionate we are. As the cost of doing business with other businesses increase each year I have to annually assess my own costs. Anyone already booked at the time of price rise will not be affected by this. So if your debating booking us get in touch for a chat.

We are also starting to agree on offers with other suppliers to give you better value for money and to increase the likelihood that we work with other like-minded and trusted wedding professionals. Our first offer is with the lovely Ashley or Warfi Films. Ashlee is a hugely talented videographer who truly cares about you and the final video he offers. He’s also just a nice guy and a pleasure to work with. If you book Warfi films and us, Warfi films will give you a £150 discount and we will give you a free second photographer worth £150, saving you £300 in total. Check out his website here Warfi Films The eagle-eyed among you may have worked out he’s based in Bristol and we’re in Milton Keynes. Don’t worry we both have cars and love to travel.

So that’s it, for now, that’s it, I have editing from the last few weeks to work through so I’ll be getting on with that over the next few days. This is a very different type of blog for me, I normally blog about wedding venues and general photography, this is more personal ramblings so let me know if you’d like to read more post like this.

I hope your all having a fantastic start to 2020 and look forward to working with lots of you this year.
